EDWARD ALBERT NOEL LEAK
Noel as he was always called was born on Christmas Day 1936 to Marjorie Leak formerly Bond and Albert Leak in Staveley nr Kendal, Westmorland (now Cumbria). In 1937 Albert Leak found himself in trouble with the law and as a result of this he was sent to prison for two years, Marjorie left Staveley and it is believed she lived with her brother Tom for a short while.
Noel was living at 10 Hartington Rd Preston Lancs. from c. 1939 from where he started school at Christ Church School in Bow Lane Preston.
In 1945 his mother took a shop with living accommodation at 118 North Rd, Preston, Lancs. (now demolished) where she set up in business as a dressmaker and costumier.
In 1948 his mother re-married James Henry Wingeatt and they lived for a short time with Noel's Grand Parents (Edward & Annie Bond) at 25 Studholme Avenue Penwortham Preston Lancs. where Noel attended Middleforth primary School Middleforth Preston Lancs. from where he passed his 11 plus and went to Hutton Grammar School nr Preston Lancs.
His parents moved c. 1949 to 9 Illingworth Rd Preston Lancs. and in 1952 at 15 years old he started work as a shop assistant at Moores of Preston (Gents Outfitters) where he worked 'til 1954 when he went to The Northern Counties Wireless School in Lancaster Rd Preston where he hoped to qualify as a radio officer in the merchant navy. Unfortunately running out of money before he could qualify.
In 1955 he started work at Jones Williams a private Christmas card maker based in Avenham St Preston Lancs. as a die stamper, which is, a form of embossed printing and married Margaret Walmsley at English Martyrs Church Garstang Rd Preston Lancs. on 18th July 1959 and they moved into rented accommodation at 100 Fleetwood St Preston Lancs.
Early 1960 saw them buy their 1st house at 163 Villiers St Preston Lancs. where Dennis Mark Noel Leak was born on 29th April 1961 and Caroline Margaret Leak was born on 6th December 1962.
1962 also saw Noel start work at BAC Strand Rd Preston Lancs. (Aircraft manufacturers) here he was employed as a progress chaser 'til 1965 when he took up a position as shift foreman at BTR Industries Leyland Lancs. who made high pressure hose for the mining industry
1965 also saw them move to 5 Whitendale Drive Bamber Bridge Preston Lancs. where they remained 'til Noel was made redundant in1972.
He applied, successfully, for a job at Silentnight (bed makers) as a shift foreman, and moved to 3, Sycamore Way Barnoldswick Lancs.
1974 Noel joined Carrs Printers Barnoldswick as works manager and stayed there 'til he had to take early retirement in 1996 with poor health.
In 1988 he moved to 22, Clifford St Barnoldswick Lancs. from where he saw his son Dennis marry in 1988 and daughter Caroline marry in 1992.
He now has 1 grandson and 3 granddaughters.

Edward married Margaret Walmsley, daughter of Thomas Walmsley and Daisy Hesmondhalgh, on 18 Jul 1959. (Margaret Walmsley was born on 15 Apr 1939 in Preston Lancashire.)
